Chocolate Strawberry Smoothie

This is one of my all time favorite go to smoothies because it basically tastes like dessert. Since I don’t consume that many dairy products anymore, this tastes very reminiscent of the classic neapolitan ice cream flavors I used to enjoy and it allows me to get my sweet fix, but in a healthier way.

Tips: The great thing about smoothies is that many of these ingredients are optional and can be substituted for other things. Adding the avocado is optional. If you don’t have any on hand that’s fine, but it does make it a bit more nutrient dense and also adds to the creamy consistency. The protein powder is also optional here, but again I like to add it to make my smoothies a little bit bulkier especially if I’m having one after a workout.

For the sweetener in this one I love to use date sweetener because it enhances the chocolate flavor and adds a nice caramel note. But if you don’t have date syrup or you just prefer to use something else that’s totally fine!

Smoothies are great because you can add in super foods or supplements. Adding a flavorless collagen powder to this would be great as well!
